Blessings to all and I hope this newsletter finds you well.
Two events this month with an Esbat on the 14th (Full Moon) called the worm moon.
The Worm Moon is the name given to the full moon that occurs in March. It’s the final full moon of winter in the northern hemisphere.
How it got its name
The name comes from Native Americans who noticed earthworm trails in the newly thawed ground in the spring.
The Worm Moon heralds the beginning of warmer spring weather and the return of life after winter.
Earthworms, beetle larvae, and grubs are some of the first food sources for birds and animals emerging from hibernation.
Ostara Sabbat 19-23 March
Ostara is a Wiccan holiday that celebrates the spring equinox and is one of the eight Wiccan Sabbats. It’s a modern Pagan holiday that honors the rebirth, renewal, and balance of nature in the spring.
Origins
The name Ostara comes from the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre, who represented spring and new beginnings.
The word Easter comes from the German word Ostern, which comes from Eostre or Ostara.
Ostara was adopted into the Celtic Wheel of the Year from Germanic tribes like the Anglo Saxons.
Symbols and colors
Symbols of Ostara include butterflies, fairies, eggs, rabbits, and spring flowers.
Colors of Ostara include yellow, orange, lavender, green, and pastels.
